Part of the fun of springtime is enjoying the blooming flowers and baby animals. What better way to do that than taking to the whole family to any of the many outdoor zoos and gardens in Orlando?
Like Disney’s Animal Kingdom, Gatorland also has more of a theme park atmosphere than a zoo, but puts the focus on the reptiles after which the park is named. You’ll find other birds and reptiles here, plus scenic gardens.
Central Florida Zoo & Botanical Gardens
Head to Central Florida’s zoo for a glimpse of its 400 animal exhibits, including mammals, birds, reptiles, amphibians, and insects. The gardens are home to many exotic plant species, too.
The Brevard Zoo offers the unique experience of taking a kayak tour around animal exhibits, walking a boardwalk, or splashing in a lagoon. Get up close and personal with the animals during your visit. You can even pet gators or feed the giraffes.
Bok Tower Gardens
This 250-acre landmark is one of the oldest estates near Orlando and is well worth the hour-long drive from Disney World. From stunning architecture to diverse plant life to many different birds visiting each day, there’s plenty to see here.
Mead Botanical Garden
Admission is always free to the grounds of this 28-acre garden, which features a boardwalk, bike trail, and butterfly garden.
